What We Do
The Savings and Retirement Foundation provides an independent and accessible forum for information and discussion on all aspects of pension, retirement, and savings policy. It began in 2009.
Our goal in creating the Foundation was to promote communications and dialog on savings and retirement policy between the research community, the federal government, and the interested public.
Government entitlement programs as well as many public and private pensions face significant economic, fiscal, and demographic challenges to their long-run viability, and the mission of the Savings and Retirement Foundation is to disseminate relevant and timely research on these issues.
The Foundation hosts regular seminars that are regularly attended by economists from the U.S. Congress, Social Security Administration, Congressional Research Service, Congressional Budget Office, Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Joint Committee on Taxation, and the U.S. Treasury, as well as attendees from think tanks, academia, and the private sector. These events have continued via zoom since the advent of the pandemic and we will return to live meetings in the second quarter of 2022.
The Savings and Retirement Foundation also hosts regular events in the U.S. Capitol to directly inform members and staff of the latest research on issues relevant to savings and retirement.
